With contemporary styling the Jeanneau 42DS (deck saloon) is a genuine head turner. The sculptured deck lines and signature eagle-eye windows are from the drawing board of Italian designer Vittorio Garroni.

However, the 42DS is not just about good looks alone. The voluminous hull form is the work of renowned ocean-racing yacht designer Marc Lombard, who is responsible for designing everything from 100ft maxis to Open 60s through to mini transat yachts. The beam has been carried well aft giving volume exactly where you want it and at the same time creating enough room for the luxuriously spacious owners cabin. Make no mistake, the Jeanneau 42DS is a very capable bluewater cruising yacht!

The cockpit has been very well designed and laid out for short-handed sailing. The large cockpit table provides good bracing while underway and folds out to create a generous size dining table for entertaining friends and family while at anchor. The twin wheels provide the helmsman with excellent visibility and offer easy access to the swim platform.

There is an abundance of natural light down below and the large panoramic windows provide stunning ocean views. Below deck the accommodation and layout are luxurious. It is while standing in the main saloon that you will fully appreciate the deck saloon design concept. The interior is very spacious, and the huge amount of headroom gives you the feeling that you are standing in a much larger yacht.

The main saloon has a very practical and user-friendly layout. The centrepiece is the deep U-shaped seating area with high quality leather upholstery. There is a large dining table with enough room to easily accommodate half a dozen hungry sailors.

The well-appointed galley features dual stainless sinks, a microwave, gas stove and oven, and very large under bench fridge with icebox. There is ample storage and the tinted glass splashback ads a touch of style and class.

You could get lost in the ginormous owners cabin aft. The huge king size bed offers the ultimate in decadent luxury for the owners. The storage is plentiful, and the bed can be easily lifted to give access to some of the electrical systems below. There is also great access to the engine and gearbox via a removable panel in the aft cabin. There is a well-appointed private ensuite with a toilet, hand basin and a shower. The ensuite is a very usable and practical design with a couple of opening hatches for ventilation and a shower curtain to keep the head dry.

Correspondingly the guest cabin forward offers a similar level of comfort. There is a comfortable double bed and your guest will enjoy the added privacy of their own sperate ensuite with shower and head.
